Got Australian and SA 7.62 in quantity.  Ordered 9 used metric mags from CDNN.  Lubed it with FP-10.

SA58C with 18" barrel.   Is there any chance of a single-point sling or just a three point?

Not sure about a single point sling.  I'm going with an Israeli-style one myself.

Mags are a good thing. A DSA Extreme Duty scope mount is good if you want to add an optic.

excellent place to learn about FALs and accessories if you haven't already found it.

Congrats. That should be a dandy rifle.  Go forth and blast.

Keep the gas piston and spring dry while firing. Put a little light oil on them when in the safe. After every range session, remove the hand guards, unscrew the gas regulator and clean it and the threads on the gas block thoroughly. Same with the entire gas system.  A 1911 bore brush is perfect for scrubbing out the gas piston tube.

Exactly what Maddogkiller stated. Read up on your new rifle and enjoy. Good pick, WarDawg

Looked at the manual, do I really need a "special tool" to remove the buttstock?

You don't "need" the buttstock tool, but they are really inexpensive and the hassle of trying to use big screw drivers, cleaning rods, yada yada yada really aren't worth the trouble.

If you do opt to get the buttstock tool, while removing the buttstock, be sure to keep your hand over the end of the tool with slight downward pressure while you are removing the recoil tube nut lest the tool ,nut, and spring get launched into low earth orbit.

I would also recommend getting an extractor removal tool. It can be done without the tool, but again, for the money, it isn't worth the trouble. You could own and shoot that FAL for your entire lifetime and never need the extractor tool, but it is nice to have just in case.
