Anyone know how to free float the DSA STG58 rifle?  Can it be done easily?  What tools/parts would I need to do it?  Thanks!

Have you considered DSA Free Float Tube?

I had the DSA free float tube on my FAL.  I suppose it floats the barrel well, but it weighs a ton.  My rifle became a back-up boat anchor.  Needless to say, the good ol' synthetics are back on and the rifle feels much more balanced.  If you're shooting off the bench all the time, you'll probably be OK with it.

edited to add:  Very easy to install/remove.  No special tools required.

thanks! I was wondering how hard it was to do.  I am suprised it is so heavy though.  Anyone make carbon fiber ones yet?

I bought the rifle with the free-float already installed.  It was my first of many FALs.  I couldn't figure out how it was that the 6 foot tall, 110 pound African militia dudes were holding these things like a feather (assuming no Kat or whatever drug is mentioned in BlackHawkDown), on on full-auto nonetheless.

When I put the front synthetics on, it felt right and much better balanced.  Less front-end heavy.  Check out www.falfiles.com.  There are lots of FAL enthusiasts and vendors over there (I'm sure a lot here as well).  It may be a good place to ask about alternatives to the DSA free-float handguards.  Good luck!!!
