Quoted: I lined the inside of my handguards with aluminum foil tape and it work very well. It was easy to apply. Aluminum foil tape has good thermal conductivity and is designed for HVAC. It is similar to the tape that Maddogkiller described. I purchased it from Home Depot.
ETA: If interested, I can post pics and more details.

This is exactly what I did. Tape cost about $3, and the whole process, being
very fastidious about it was complete in an hour or so. A quick-and-dirty job that covered less than 100% of the inside of the handguards could be done in 20 minutes.
If you go this route, have a sharp, very pointed knife (X-Acto is perfect), and a good pair of scissors that will cut the tape cleanly. Test the scissors first. Use some rubbing alcohol to clean/de-grease the inside of the HG first. It's easy, and done right should hold up forever.
