I'm looking to build a FAL.  It'll be my first and, as such, I want a standard no frills kit.  The finish doesn't have to be anything special as I intend to practice painting on it too.  Just a fun/practice/range rifle.  Receivers are easy, but I want a kit in the $150 - $200 range.  Cheaper if possible.

Any ideas?

i'd suggest cruising the marketplace on FALFiles or check with gunthings.com i believe they have $169 SA kits in stock that sound like what you're after.

The folks at ammunitionstore have a load of what seem to be South African Kits for $150.

I bought a kit from gunthings.com.  My kit was in functional shape with a good bore but the exterior of the barrel had surface rust.  Cleaned up it looks great.  My kit was missing the charging handle lug.  After a call to the store--got the part mailed and at my door the next day.  I would buy from them again.
