I see they have two mags .... the $12 ones that say "excellent condition" and the $5 ones that say "used in good condition".

Has anyone ordered both to see the difference? I am the type that will buy the $12 mags ... but if the $5 ones are ok, heck, I can buy alot more!

i got some of both a while ago. after you use the $12 mags once, they're the same as the $5 mags!

To me it is worth the difference. The $5 ones look like shit if you ask me. If you are going to use a few for range mags or beaters than go for it. I got some $5 mags when I ordered $12 mags and had to send them back.

Also check over at TAPCO and see what they have. If they still have any of the boxed new mags(10 per box) grab some of those.

All I saw at Tapco was the Aluminum mags ......

CDNN has new ones with a loader for $8.99, not sure what brand or quality they are though.

the Steyr $12 units sound like a sure thing......

Both seems to function fine and the $5.00 ones have spare springs with them.

If you plan on finishing/painting/etc them you might as well get the $5.00 ones.

been a while since i got mine from DSA...sounds as if maybe the average condition is lees now. maybe that's why i didn't get new springs with mine...
i also got a BIG bagful of VG++ mags from militarygunsupply.com for $3-4 each. many were like new. all the para mags were new, that was months ago too, don't know what their current stock is like.

I have both. The $5 mags work great.

The last I knew, Military Gun Supply had FAL mags for $3 each.  They had both FN and Steyr ones.

I purchased a number of the Steyr ones a couple of months ago and am quite happy with what I got.

You might check with them and see if they still have any.

MSG, I bought 5 brand new aluminum mags for $20.00, as for the DSA mags, get the cheap ones with new springs, degrease the shit out of them, paint them with walmart 1200 degree engine paint then bake the mags for 3 hours at 550, it won't come off.

Try the Tapco aluminum mags. If you buy 10+ they are $5 a piece. The ones I got could have passed for brand new, nice with a flat black finish. Well worth the price. I got some of the DSA steel mags a few months ago. Out of 6, 2 wouldn't hold the bolt back, and one was so dirty and sandy I had to strip it down and give it a thourough cleaning. The finish on that mag was all but gone.  But not bad overall. They do the job.

I order 2  of the $5 mags a few weeks ago.  They do come with a spare set of new springs.  The finish looks like new.  One was a Steyr with the witness holes and the other wasnt.  The condition was very good on both mags but I havent fired them yet.

I tried this with some steel mags that I found at Knob Creek.  Excellent recipe.  They look great, and the finish seems to be pretty durable.  THanks for the tip.  Also, I primed before painting.
