I have a FAL Carbine from ORF and I am more than happy with it. It turned up in great condition and it fires superbly.

I purchased one recently and discovered rust in the gas tube and pitts in the barrel. It also required me to bottom out the front site in order to get it on paper and had cycling problems with gas set almost completely closed.

I contacted Todd and arranged for a refund. They returned everything including shipping and were nice about it. Just bummed me out. I guess I got unlucky.

Here's my review of the one they built for me.  Just to add to the original report- after replacing the BHO, front sight post, and a few more rounds to break it in, it runs reliably and is a joy to shoot.

It is back at ORF to have a STG flashider installed.

Anyone can turn out a bad one- anyone.  I've heard some horror stories about DSA.  It is how they stand behind the product and how quickly they fix the problem that matters.  ORF has my vote in customer service as well as turning out quality products.

Most FALs on the market are surplus kits on new receivers.  Not allowing a few hiccups here and there is unreasonable.

My problem was not so much the fixable hiccups but the unfixable condition of the "very good to excellent" parts. Pits and rust are not accpetable in a firearm rated as such. The rifle simply was not as described when I placed my order over the phone.

Yes, everyone can turn out a lemon. It just happened to be the case that I got one. Many are satisfied with ORF and there is a good chance that he too would be.

A year ago when I got my 21' standard model Fal w/2003 gear logo rcvr from ORF for $500 something, nobody could touch the price or quality. Even if I would have gota kit and rcvr and if someone in my area would have helped me put it together it would have cost the same basically. Since ORF has a 1yr guarantee and tons of ppl swear by them from falfiles etc.. I decided to try them. Its been running great since I got it, eats anything I throw at it. Would be nice to be able to afford a dsa of course but they seem overpriced for what you get I think.

Just my .02 of course. YMMV
