looks like to me a LOT of hand rubbed coats of BLO (boiled linseed oil) my M1A has a nice walnut stock with a nice grain and i keep it up the same way.. every 3 months of HP competition i wipe in another coat of BLO

I'm awaiting the arrival of my NM M1a this week, I hope.
Stock question: Is Linseed oil preferred over Tung Oil if so, why? |

usually it is just a matter of preference... the purists will insist on tung oil as that is what was used by the makers of military stocks after WW-II.. i just use BLO cut with a little bit of mineral spirits 75/25 but that is my preference and i like the way it looks.. now.. having said that.. Deans Gun Restorations uses the VERRY nice Wenig stocks and he uses Danish Oil.. it DOES look nice....
