I really want an M1 Carbine as a range toy and I am wondering if anyone here has an Israeli M1 Carbine that they can comment on.  All carbines are WW2 surplus given to Israel.  About 700$ for various makes.  850$ for Winchesters.  Any help is appreciated.

I've HEARD that the Israeli M1s are jamo-o-matics. But this could very well be BS gun shop talk.

Years back in the early 90's I aquired an Inland M1 carbine
imported by Davidsons from Isreal. It is just a shooter and I
think I paid $200 for it. It is used. The dealer I bought it from
put what looked like dark wood stain on the bare metal to
make it look less used than it was...stain rubbed off the
first time I cleaned it. There was sand in the reciever. Once
I got it cleaned up it has been a good shooter. From Isreal it is
most certainly seen some use. I don't know anything about SOG
M1's currently available...CMP only has carbines available @ auction
and these go for $1000 plus. If you want a shooter, buy it. If you
want a safe queen then you will have to spend more to get one
without an import stamp. Good luck!
