I hope this is ok in the M1 forum.

I have a loaded M1a from springfield with a 1:11 stainless bbl. What load are you guys using for the best accuracy? I'm looking for bullet weights and type as well as powders/charges.
My main question is if a 168 gr hpbt will be too heavy or should I stick with a 147ish gr bullet? I'm hoping for 1moa or less.

as far as bullet weight you can go up to 190, and under 50,000 for pressure..alot of people get a schuster gas plug to help

The gold standard is Fed GMM 168grs.  If it won't shoot that, your rifle's cursed.

Try this: LC brass,41 grains IMR 4895, the Seierra 168 hpbt,CCI large rifle primers. Very accurate in my SAI Loaded.

Good starting point. Mine seems to like the same but with 42.0 grains of 4895, though that may be getting near the upper limit on a safe/accurate charge. That was on Prvi Partisan brass, if that makes a difference.
