Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - M1/M14 Trigger Interchangeability?

According to everything I've read, the M1 trigger will not work in an M14 trigger group. But, a local gunsmith (ex -mil armorer) claims they are interchangeable and apparently has done so very often over the years w/o modification. So what DOES happen if you put an M1 trigger in an M14 trigger group ???

They will interchange but an M14 trigger group with an M1 trigger will not have full auto capability ( not a factor with semi M1a's ). An M14 trigger will work normally in a M1 trigger group but you will / may have too trim back the sear trip arm so it doesn't drag on the inside of stock...
