When I get a "new" surplus rifle and get it cleaned up I tend to carry it from room to room with me as if I'm still in the military and must have it within arms reach at all times.

I am sane aren't I?

there's nothing wrong with taking a nap with an M1 at port arms right?

SoS

I'm the same way, as is my brother. He went to far as to make a stand and special hangers to display his favored gun of the moment.

I sleep with a 1911 in a holster on a belt on my waist.  No shit.  But not when the woman is in bed with me.

Paranoia= a mental disorder characterized by systematized delusions ascribing hostile intentions to others, often linked with a sense of mission.

If the shoe fits.......

Nothing wrong with it at all. M1 Garands need love too. They are one of a few rifles that really have a soul and seem to be living breathing things. I love my Garands, and I'm not crazy

I have an all stainless 1911 so that it won't rust when I take a shower.

Gentlemen,
I always have a 1911 in reach. It would be my luck to go to the can leaving the gun by my chair when the bad guys break in.
Thanks again

I don't think anythings wrong it. Chance favors the prepared and it's better to be a sleeping wolf than a waiting to die without a fight sheep. I sleep with my 92FS in hands reach in various places of choice loaded with 16 9mm EFMJ's. Then spare mags, a tactical CQB LBE rig that runs with the 92FS and a CX4 92 series is in the closet super close. If there not the best choice, than my M1A or PTR with full rigs are just as close and ready to go. This can be a tough world and there's nothing wrong with thinking ahead to deal with it.

I bought a Swiss K31 Tuesday.

I think today is the first day I haven't touched it.

But yeah, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday it was leaning against the computer desk or layed in my lap all day long. I sometimes I would shoulder it as i went from room to room.

I'm glad we're all on the same sheet of music, (John Philip Sousa?)  M1 at elbow leaning against desk, bandoleer of ammo at my feet. boxes of ammo on the pullout of the desk.

In the hood, we keep a .308 battle rifle around at all times.... tonight it's HK91

gangbangers around here like .380 and 9mm and maybe SKS occasionally.....

M14 is good answer to their playing

haha I use my new CMP Garand to practice Honor Guard Ceremonies in the house.  My wife thinks I am nuts doing all the facing movements and calling out the commands.

I wear my bullet proof vest around the house too, when I am watching Stargate.
