RAF,
Camo is a personal taste issue. Unless it is on a rifle that will go into harms way (where you want the most effective pattern available). I'd guess that 90% of the rifles and stocks we do are done just for looks. There is nothing wrong with that at all. I hate my stuff to look just like everyone else's.
Unfortunatley or fortunately (depending on how you look at it) I dont get to pick the pattern, percentage of colors, or the colors. Most of the time I work off a photo example of what the customer wants (which I prefer, that way they get exactly what they want without interpetation or guess work). This stock was copied from a swath of cloth that was sent in.
For the area I'm in snow camo wouldnt be a good option since I think we had 2 days with snow on the ground this winter. For my personal taste, I have my rifles in the AmStripe (which is my favorite) or digital patterns. Usually in shades of OD, tan, browns, blacks, & medium grays. Plus I like patterns that run across the horizontal axis of the rifle in varing thicknesses. IMO it breaks up the outline much better and is extremely effective for both near and far concealment.
