I've been having fun with my M1.  Shooting some..work on it some..just trying to learn more and do some of the work myself.  I've put in new internals and peened the splines.

Now I'm wondering how much more to mess with it.  I don't want to ruin a piece of history so I'm cautious about what to do.  Can you help me figure out what I've got?

I was told it was a 1943 receiver rebarrled and rebuilt at SA in 1947.

Receiver            1470XXX

Bolt                    D2828T-12SA   S-040<>

Op-rod               D35382

Barrel                 S-A-8-47

Receiver Leg      A2    D28291  27

Hammer             C 46008-3  SA

Trigger Guard    C-46025-1-SA

Trigger Housing D28290-18-SA

Stock Cartouches  SA/GAW (weak SA)  with crossed cannons next to it
Small crossed cannons on pistol grip butt
Circle P on the inside of the pistol grip

It's a great rifle.  Is this anything special?... Thanks for your help.

Tony

Stock has all the ordnance markings...sounds good and if barrel is good I would leave it and shoot it lots.

After I got my first Garand, I got bit.  I thought it might be best not to alter it.  Needed an excuse to get another one and found the following.  Any details you can give me would be appreciated.

Receiver         3354XXX
Receiver leg   A21 D 2891 36 (Stamped)
                     A4 2-65     (electro pencil)
Bolt                6528287-SA   A-10
Op-rod            779022-RA
Trigger Housing IHC D6528290
Trigger Guard    No Markings
Hammer           C46008-3 SA

Barrel              LMR D6535448   12  52  A5  P  M

The first rifle groups as well as this one. Even though I thought it would be tighter with the LMR barrel.  Still got a few things to work on with this one.

I'll try and post pictures this weekend.  Thanks..
