I know everybody has used different grease on the M14; I was wondering if Barrel assembly paste from Brownells Would work? It does not say what is in it on the label. This stuff seems to be tacky and very slick. Just curious, found some lying around.

It's really anti-seize compound.
It's used to prevent barrels from freezing in the action threads.

Since it's not heat or water resistant, and isn't intended to be an actual lubricant for moving parts, you'd be better off with a gun grease.
