I was wondering how hard it would be to put one of the old lock bar rear sights on a M1 Garand that has the newer style?  Anyone ever do it?
Thansk in advance!

You just need to change out the windage knob from the new style to the old style (lock bar).

But, it does make changes in windage a PITA is you are trying to match shoot with the old style knobs.

sumo,

Swithching out the "new" rear sight for a lockbar is as easy as taking one out and putting the other back in....

My question though........  WHY???

If you are doing a WWII restoration on rifle, THAT I can understand.  If you have a rifle you want to shoot a lot or plan to shoot matches, well, just remember..... the Army changed the design of the rear sight for a reason.
