Hello there,
I have my first Garand out today, first time to shoot it and the rifle has a problem. I was wondering if you guys could help a NEWB out here.

I load a block and charge the rifle. I can fire the first round, the empty case ejects but the bolt does not pick up the next round. Most of the time it does this and after re-charging the handle the rifle will fire through the rest of the rounds--MOST of the time. Can anyone throw some suggestions my way? I would like to try it out again tomorrow morning.

Thans in Advance
Sumo

First off, it's an enblock or clip.

I would say check the op rod spring.  You need to tell us what else the rifle is doing as you said you could go through the clip most of the time after the first round.  what else is it doing?

Buy a new op rod spring anyway and replace it.  It most likely needs it.

Sumo,

Two questions...

1)  What ammo are you shooting??

2)  Is the rifle properly lubed??... and for the M1 GREASE is the mandated lube, NOT oil.

Best regards,
