ONE M1A with an ACOG?!? Are you M1A/M14 folks anti-ACOG or something? I need to know before I join the club.

I am not anti acog, i just like using the iron sites.

Irons still work good for me, at least for now

IIRC it is very diffuclt to get the proper eye relief and a good cheekweld with an ACOG, or at least that is what i recall from several previous threads...

try doing a search, I think it was discussed a couple of months ago.

It looks like, in the interet of saving money, I'll just be using a Bushnell 3-10x40 compact on top of an ARMS #18, with Leupold q/r 1" medium rings. I can do all that for less than half of one of the .308 ACOGs. I could almost get an EO Thingy as well, and still be under just the cost of the ACOG.

I like ACOGS, just can't afford one, and like the irons on my M14 anyways...

I plan on buying a TA31F for my flattop Colt.

I currently don't have any plans for optics on my M1A.  It shoots so well with irons, I hate to mess around with it!

Could it be that the M1A/M14 crowd isn't as concerned with all the high tech, go fast gear commonly associated with the AR15's/M16's?

My Fulton Armory shoots just right with irons...

I'm starting to get that impression. Guess I could save the money for more ammo!

Id put an acog on a bush rifle, but not a full size.  Too much range potential with a well setup full size to go with smaller optics.  the fixed 10x works perfect for me, dont want anything else.

It could be that the ACOG doesnt work particularly well on the M14/M1A platform.

Still shaking my head,

The M1 and m-14 platform has always been the platform of wood stocks and iron sights.

My thoughts are if you need optics on a rifle, then the Stoner system is the idea format for such. Granted you don't need to rush out and buy a SR-25, (read there are other subsututes then just Knight), but please stop bastardize the 14's by hacking down the barrels/adding optics to the rifles and having to watch you guys use the tip of your chin as stock weld points.

Who in the world wants one rifle to do all things. Where is the fun in that?  One should be faithful to their spouse. Forsaking all others. Beyond that...

Could it be that some of us don't need optics to hit our targets?
