Looking at the CMP Auction rifles and one is listed as a "Postage Stamp" rifle?

Never heard that term before?

M1 Garand IHC "Postage Stamp" rifle.  The receiver was made by Springfield Armory during the early days of production at IHC.  The rifle has about 50% of its original finish and has what appears to be a number of original components remaining.  The stock has a small chip of wood missing just forward of the rear sling swivel.

IHC receivers had different "gaps" in the way the lettering was struck on assembly. Some were squared (postage stamp) and some had gaps (gap letter). I think that there were 3 or 4 variations.
