Been shooting M2 ball with my Greek RG Garand, got a few hundred rounds through it.  As I was picking up the brass after an 8-round clip, I noticed that one of them had split, near the neck of the cartridge.  The split is about 3/4" long.  Should this be cause for concern?  I didn't notice anything unusual while firing it, as far as sound, or where it ejected, or recoil.

Thanks!

How old is the M2 Ball ammo ? Alot of the early 40's Remington M2 ball has brittle brass and will split cases.

That is a brass defect, not good. I would think twice about shooting any more of that paticular lot.\

Shit.  Now I can't find the damn casing.  I'm going to have to scour around for it.

Sorry about not posting lot info - it's LC69 stamped on the bottom.  I bought a case of it at CMP North when I got the rifle, mid-August.  I'm going to send them an email asking if they've had any issues with any of it.  I'll post their reply when I get it.

I'm assuming it would not be wise to shoot any more of it?

ETA: Found the casing.  LC69.

Wanted to bump this back up to see if anyone else has had any problems with it.  Lot stamp is LC69.

Thanks!

I've had the same problem with split necks, only the ammo was LC69 Talon, not from the CMP.
