You can use your iron sights with just the smith mount. The ARMS#18 you have to take the scope off ARMS makes QD rings and QD bases for the #18. The Smith run about 200.00. The ARMS with rings about 260.00 or mount and base 320.00. I like the #18 it's a low profile and good weld

I've got a Smith Enterprise Mount on my M1A and REALLY like it. You can use the scope or irons without removing the scope.
I got mine directly from Smith Enterprise for just under $200/shipped. |

The Smith is a quality mount.
However, I personally prefer the ARMS as it allows lower scope mounting which allows me to achieve a better cheek weld, something crucial to good shooting. If the scope must be removed for some reason, the weak hand can loosen the QD mounts and remove the scope in seconds without removing the rifle from the shoulder. YMMV. |
