Do the M1/M1A have chromed barrels?  

I have a standard model and it does.....I don't think the loaded ones do

The standard U.S.G.I. M-14 barrels have a chrome lined bore and chamber. Match grade and after market barrels do not. The M-1 was not issued with a chrome lined bore and chamber. I am not aware of any M-1 barrels with a chrome lined bore and chamber.

The M1 had an unlined bore, the M14 a chrome bore.  (Note there are no dashes between the M and the number in US nomenclature.)

M1A is a quasi M14.  Originally made from M14 parts, now using many new made.  Barrel manufacturer is usually visible in the slot on the right side revealed with the op rod fully to the rear,

The M1A wasn't originally made entirely from M14 parts, the receivers were and still are cast commercial Mfg. Also, M1 parts were sometimes used when they would interchange. Example; rear sight Assy., safety, hammer, trigger/sear.

The M1A was originally made with scrap/surplus M14 parts.  Certainly not entirely, of course, but the availability of new scrap/surplus parts was the reason the rifle could be built.  

A few of these are identical with the M1 and old WW2 lockbar M1 sights were common on early M1A rifles -- guess they bought them as scrap by the pound.  They show in many early advertisements.  Easy enough to swap out for a M14 sight, or late M1 sight (identical other than range marking).

There has never been a chrome lined Garand barrel.
Until now.
It may be as much as six months before it happens, but a chrome chamber 'n bore Garand is on our product planning road map.  The upcharge should be 50 bucks, the same as for our M14 barrels.
Please note that chrome barrels are intended for hard-use field rifles, as you do sacrifice some accuracy potential due to the inevitable irregularities of chrome bores.

Wilson Barrels will be offering cromed lined 6 groove GI contour barrels, hopefully, by the end of October.. that is where Fulton is probably going to be getting their barrels firm....
