I hope it comes in around $225 or less.  I'd like to know the length of the barrel of the rifle in the picture.  I don't think it looks quite right, almost too short for the stock.  Does anyone have experience with the Remington 700 stocks by Magpul?

Judging by the thickness of the barrel, threaded muzzle and the Pmags its using, I would guess that it is an American Predator 308, 18". One of them is on my short list after how impressive my American Ranch 223 has been. I plan on picking up 2 of the magpul stocks once they are released! Love the magpul stock on my 1022, and the 700 stocks are a nice compromise IMO between the usually crap factory stocks and and an all out expensive replacement from the likes of B+C, McMillan, HS Precision, etc...

The Remington stock is $259 without the mag well/ magazine, the ruger includes both, so $299 makes sense I guess. Does seem to be geared towards the 308 rather than any short action. Wonder if they'll eventually do a long action.

I want one for my 300 BO.
Anything to put a few more rounds in the mag.

My 300 BLK will be upgraded to this stock as well. I'll probably also put them on my Ranch 556 and Predator 308.

Me too. My 22lr American with a threaded barrel, is a great little rifle. This would make it so much better, but cost more than I spent on the rifle.

See some other magazines for 223 that are 10 round and $40. Not sure what other AICS magazines might be around. Assuming it works.

I have a Ranch in 300BLK.

How does the ACIS mags work with the smaller cartridge diameter like 300BLK & 556? I am lost on this.

The Magpul AICS mags will not work with the 223 family of cartridges, it's only for the 308 family.

There are some other AICS pattern mags for  223/300/204/etc. Off hand I can think of AICS and Accurate Mag both make metal mags. MDT and Ruger(not specifically labeled as AICS pattern, but they're made for the 223 RPR, which is advertised as compatible with AICS pattern mags, so I would ASSume they should be compatible) both make plastic AICS mags. I'm sure they're are others as well.

I am looking forward to the release of this stock for my ranch in .300 blackout. The magazine that comes with the RAR is absolute junk and the stock isn't much better. MDT makes AICS .223/.300 compatible 10 round magazines. I think the rifle in the Magpul photos it a ranch .

I also have a Magpul hunter on my Remington 700 police. I actually like it better than the HS Precision stock that it came with. I love the ability to change the lop for individual preference .

I think they're going to call it the 'Duck Hunter'.

Guaranteed to tighten the choke on your Mini14 mallard whacker.

I'm debating on whether to throw all of my Americans in these.  It'd be nice to ditch the cheap mags and run just about all of my bolt guns off of AICS magazines

I phoned Magpul about 3 weeks ago to ask if they had any idea when a left handed "Hunter" stock would be available for my R.A.P. in 6.5Cm.  I was told the right handed versions due 'late 2017' would likely be on the market Q1-2018.

The young woman I spoke with had no idea if/when a lefty would be produced so I suggested that my request for one be the first 'vote' to do so.
She chuckled but offered no promises.

Too late, too many broken promises.
I'm glad that they think broken promises are funny but I don't.

I bought two MDT RAP stocks last month and will never look back.

If I based my purchases on release dates I would ALWAYS be disappointed.
For the price the Hunter Stock will no doubt be the best...for the price.

Ruger offers a synthetic stock for their Gunsite Scout Rifle for considerably less than the abovementioned stocks: http://shopruger.com/Ruger-Scout-Synthetic-Stock/productinfo/90574/.

Three points about this particular stock:

1) If you are using iron sights, or a properly-mounted Scout scope, the syn stock already has the correct cheek piece rise; no need for adjustment unless one wishes to mount a conventional scope with an extraordinary large ocular bell.

2) The GSR stock is internally reinforced to accept 3 sling swivel studs, thus allowing use of a Ching sling.

3) The innards of the buttstock are accessible, allowing stowage of spare parts, cleaning supplies, and anything else desired.  This also allows the user to change the balance point of their rifle to suit them.

That particular stock is just fine by me for its' intended purpose.  I bedded the action using Brownell's Steel Bed compound, and it is much more accurate than I am.

For my Mini-14, and 10-22, I prefer the stainless steel Butler Creek stock, bedded, of course, although that option might not be open to some.

I doubt that I will replace the syn stock on my RAR .22RF, because it has snap-in cheek risers and the length of pull is likewise easily adjusted.  Given those attributes, it's hard to justify the presumably considerable expense of a fancier stock that dues much the same thing.   I'll probably bed the action, though.

YMMV.

I'm looking at getting a Ruger American Predator in 308, and would like to have the option to get the Magpul stock later.  Does it make a difference if The Ruger is the version with the rotary mag (#06974) or the 3 round AI-style mag (#26974)?  Will this stock fit both and allow the use of the Magpul mags?

Still vapor-ware as far as I can tell.  Magpul's website it now saying 'summer 2018'.

Don't imagine I could be lucky enough to have them mold that stock with indications in it where I could dremel out the recess for my Predator's left handed bolt, after all this waiting either, huh?  Probably too much to expect.  Southpaws are still under-appreciated in today's world of CNC, CAD, easy reverse imaging, etc.

Sometimes it sucks to be right handed and left eye dominate.
