I was watching the news and it looked like a French cop had a Mini 14 with a wood stock. The stock had an oiler cutout in the back like an M1 carbine. Seems odd they would use Minis.

Noted that too.  Was trying to decide what weapon it was as it was just showing the oiler slot, and finally they showed the back sights.....Mini 14 it was!!!

They are popular overseas for the same reason they were a popular LE long arm here in the states, they look more like a PC sporting rifle than a evil Black Military assault rifle.

Looks like they have a lot of them, suprising I haven't seen any AC556 fully automatic rifles.

Aren't the photos of AC556s? They have the selector lever. I also noticed they have a different charging handle lever.

You could be right, it would make sense for Ruger to export the AC556.  I didn't notice the selector lever.  I don't think Ruger has made the AC556 since 1999 so these guns are probably exports from the mid-80's - mid-90's.

Is it me, or is the guy in the bottom picture pointing that mini at the other guy's head?

Hard to really say.  It's probably a longer range telephoto shot which compresses the field of view making things look more bunched up than they really are.

I wanna know where they got all those helmets from, my station has a grand total of three helmets on the shelf.

I did a little searching and the Ruger Mini 14 varient are assembled in France and the Offical name is Mousqueton AMD 5.56.  From the various photos I've seen online the AMD 5.56 uses a different mag catch than US made Mini 14's.  Some of the AMD 5.56 seem to have selectors for semi, 3 shot burst and full auto, while others appear without the selector.  Some examples appear to have different rear sights but all the pictures show the stock with checkering and an oiler cutout.   Some examples have a different charging handle while others have standard Mini 14 charging handle.

Have no fear. They have never been fired and only dropped once

You think they don't get the A-Team in France?
