It would be far less headache if you sold the upper on the EE and then sold the lower via local classifieds to avoid dealing with any of the ATF or FFL stuff.

We're assuming it's an SBR AR that can be parted out and sold. What specific type of firearm are you looking to sell, OP? (for more specific advice)
The one/two stamp transfers for in/out of state is correct. Another option is to have it removed from the NFA registry. |

thanks for the replies. The firearm in question is a 13.6" upper and sbr'd lower. I used a form 1 when assembling the upper/lower. Hope that gives a little more insight but it sounds like selling the upper/lower separately is the way to go.

Sell the upper, strip the lower and keep the stripped power as a paperweight. If you ever want to build another you don't have to do a new stamp, and you cam spend 50 for a lower to sell with your lower parts if you want.

legal question. Since I documented the length , mfg of the upper on my form 1, will my form 1 be invalid if I put an upper from another mfg on my SBR'd lower?

There's just no requirement to do so. You can even file a 5320.20 for interstate transportation and list a different caliber/length and it'll be approved, whether it matches the F1 or the registry. |

If you are selling out of state, can you have your dealer transfer it to the out of state dealer on a Form 3? The buyer then pays the $200 for his Form 4? I'm missing the second stamp. Thanks |
