I have a Winchester 94 with the serial 1484XXX that places it to 1943-1948
Guy came into my friends gunstore a few years back and claimed this gun (and a pile of others) belonged to his sister who was trying to put a couple of kids through college . His BIL who had died when the kids were tots and his father had both worked at Winchester . Many of these guns had way better than average to exceptional wood so the Winchester connection is believable . We are talking New Haven area so that works also

Many of these guns were just average but several including my 94 had some spectacular wood.

I have two questions. My gun has the hooded front and the folding buck horn in a barrel dovetail which I believe are correct but it also has a Lyman micrometer peep . Was this added after or were they a option from the factory at any time? It is mounted in the factory screw holes on the receiver side.

The butt plate is metal with a checkered surface , it has some curve from top to bottom but is just flat from side to side . I have another 94 that is only a few years newer and it has a plastic plate with "Winchester" molded into it. is my butt plate from the factory or possibly a factory option at that time period?

Got around to comparing the buttplate to another similar aged 94 and it is correct .
The Lyman peep sight is mounted  in factory holes so I guess that part is only a matter of curiosity

You know what they say about pics around here ..................

(but even with pics, I would have no idea myself, maybe others more knowledgable could chime in --- the guns had tons more factory options in days gone by)

The hooded front sight is correct, I have never seen a folding buckhorn dovetail sight on a Winchester 94 of that era.
I have quite a few 94's the closest to your year I have is a 1942 and a 1953 20" Carbines
The 42 is not D&T for the Lyman sight the 53 is though. I'm not sure of the exact year they made that factory, so I can not tell you for sure if that is factory done on yours or not?
Do you have the full length fore stock?

Winchester was still making civvie guns in 1942?
Interesting. Think they would have all they could do putting together military rifles.

The way the sales /serial number lists go they provide the serial number of the first gun sold in any year and by compareing it to the next year you have the sales number foe that year.

Remember that we did not declare war until Dec 8 1941

Winchester gave starting serials up to and includeing 1942 and then lumped together years 1943-1948. I did consider that 1942 number a bit weird but expect the 1942 guns were old stock being sold off.
