Wow.  Just shot my new to me 336 in 30-30.  It's a 1980's manufacture in 95-98% condition.  Off the sandbags using the irons at 100 yds and my first 5 shot group was 3" horizontally and 2 " vertically.  This is with some cheap Winchester Power Point from wally world.

I can't wait to see how she preforms with the Hornady MonoFlex and Leupold scope.

I really like this gun!!!

My other lever gun...a Marlin 1894 in .44 Magnum...pre-Illion NY...purchased new a month ago...is the gun in a few of the pics...darker and less glossy finish.

I have a 336 that I got in 1985 as a graduation gift and it doesn't have the safety or a fiber optic sight..When in the 80's did they start the safety?

I like the firesights on that rifle.

Those front sights have a pretty large diameter bead right?
Maybe a fat front sight isn't the best for precision at 100 yards using iron sights?
My Marlin Cowboy 45-70 did much better on paper with iron sights when I went to a smaller front bead for a bit better precision.
That's my 2 cents worth.

Very nice! My first Marlin was a mid 70's gun, totally flawless.

It has a few dings and what not, but she's a shooter. Took my first does with her at 223 yards (lasered) down hill in PA. She's got a special place in my heart now!
