I was at the store the other day and came across one of these. I was drooling all over myself when I saw it and handled it.
It was a brand new Winchester 1892 Trapper, 16" barrel. What was more interesting was that it was a take-down model, in the legendary 44 Mag.
It was very similar to this:
But if I remember correctly, it had a straight stock and a flatter but-plate like this one:
I cannot find anything on this rifle on Winchester's site, and the trapper take down that they have listed is only available in 357, which I know it wasnt.
Anybody know anything about these rifles and if they are any good? I would love the rifle, and it handled great, but the price on it was just shy of 1300 clams... OUCH

THIS, and I am almost positive thats what I saw. I guess I was mistaken about the stock. IIRC, They had a non-takedown version there a well and I might have just mixed them up.
