Is it available and if so what are they going for?

I didn't know SIG made a rifle in 7.62x39 though. Hmmm. I still have all that leftover ammo and nothing to shoot it in.

More importantly, did they make one in 1965?

Funny how the AK is still 'state of the art' after all this time. You're right Tex. You know, I'd really like one of those milled Polish AK's and then BFPU it. The only thing that's stopped me is the new US barrels apprently aren't chrome-lined. It pisses me off that because of the federal government, parts kits can't be imported with the original barrels. Oh, than that was the GWB administration did that, for all you GWB fans.

I checked all the sources I found when looking for my 516 Patrol and nobody has one. Personally, I prefer the 516 Patrol over the

Russian. I'm very satisfied with mine.

Better yet, try the Sig Rifles forum.  Click the "Armory" button up above and scroll down to it.

The 556 R is alive and doing very well. Several local dealers here in teh south have them. I bought one two weeks ago and it is awsome! Very accurate, good solid tight fit and works with all AK47 mags. It is a joy to shoot compared to the AK.

The 516 Russian on the otehr hand I wont even look at.  Sig has made tye same all AR makers make. They try and use the AR mag well and a cheap C Products mag and actucally think it will function. It will function just like all teh other AR manufatcturer gun. It wont. Every AR I have even seen or heard about fails to function the way they are designed. If they made teh 516 like the 556R with a mag well that would take AK mags it might work well.

I thought that that model of Sig had problems?

Not the 556R. It has been redesigned an dworks like an AK and shoots like an AR. I love mine. It has become my favorite 556 rifle now.

Just picked up a Sig 556R.  I haven't taken it out.  It came with the regular folder as well as the swiss style, a Sig red dot, two cheapy mags.

I put a PWS 4" brake on it.  I am gonna sell the swiss stock, when I figure out how to get it off.   I need to get some iron sights, and a rail for it, then shoot shoot shoot.

Almost forgot, I put in a bunch of Circle 10 Bulgy mags, and they all fit with no play = WIN!!!

Can't wait to shoot it at my LEO 3 gun competition in July....All the sissy folks will be shooting .223!!!
