The carbine is great, don't get me wrong, but I have wanted the rifle version since I was a teenager in the 80's.

Thats the difference between a rifle and a carbine.

rifle = long
carbine = short

I'll bite, I have always wanted one of the real Sigs. I too rememeber seeing them back in the 80's and wishing in the 90's I had bought one. e-mail me the price and local, I always thought that the real Swiss Sigs where the tits!!!!!!

Back in the day I thumbed my nose at it for two reasons; the price and  the rubber  dust cover  which seemed cheesy at the time. Boy was I ignant!

I think he's just saying it'd be great to have a 550 "available" for those who want a rifle instead of a 551/556 type package which is more of a carbine...

Would be nice to have this available, but with what's out now...I'm good lol.

I'm the opposite I guess. I prefer the shorter versions. The 550 is just too damn long IMO.

I am happy with the carbine.  It is more sensible in the long run, unless you are on an open battlefield.  I don't plan on being on one of those in the near future.
