I used 100 yards with my E O Tech and BUIS on my Tavor SAR as that is how my other centerfire rifles are zeroed.  I use 50 yards for my 22 LR rimfire rifles.   Even with the larger height over bore the ballistics were more similar for me when switching between rifles.

I suggest you use a ballistic calculator to compare the difference when using a 50 yard battle zero commonly use an AR-15 because of the difference in height over bore does make a difference.

I’ll try to post pictures of my results using Federal online ballistic calculator with Federal M-193 55 grain FMJ.  Tavor X95 have 3.5” height over the bore compared to 2.5” to 2.75” with AR-15’s.  One inch scopes usually are 2.5” over bore whereas 30 mm scopes are usually 2.75” over bore on an AR-15.

Notice with a 50 yard zero on an X95 your 4” high at 200 yards.  With an AR-15 with 50 yard zero your within 2” of zero high or low to 200 yards.

I’m just more accustomed to using a 100 yard zero and the Tavor is still close enough to AR-15’s POA with 100 yard zero not to make enough difference while shooting CQB drills or hitting silhouettes at 300 yards.    With a 50 yard zero on Tavor/X95 your 4” high at 200 but close to POA at 300.   Really a personal choice but can be dependent on how many rifles someone commonly uses and how familiar they are with each.

Another reason I like 100 yard zero on the Tavor/X95 is that once  past about 100 yards all hits are normally going to be low whereas with a 50 yard zero rounds are hitting pretty high out to about 200 yards with the Tavor/X95 and close to POA at 300 yards.    It is just different enough from my other guns the 100 yard zero just requires less thought when using my Tavor.

One thing you can’t change is at very close range 25 yards and in the Tavor/X95 will hit 3.5” low whereas an AR-15 will be 2.5” low.

As a side note, I will mention that I'm looking for a zero that provides a maximum point blank range out to 300 yards to hit a 6" plate with a meprolight 21 triangular dot and a 3X magnifier.

The center of the M-21 reticle should be close to 3.5” and for precision most use the top tip
of the triangle for POA.   I suggest you measure the center of the reticle to the center of the bore.  If you decide on a specific load you can use the ballistic calculator to get estimates for various distance for your zero.

One of the unique things about the Tavor/X95 is the height of the rail over the bore which makes the optic higher over the bore compared to AR-15’s and much higher than bolt action rifles.   The height over bore with factory backup iron sights will be very close to 3.5” over the center of the bore.

I’m using an E O Tech 512 on a YHM riser to get  absolute/exact co-witness with the Tavor SAR back up iron sights.   The E O Tech center is 3.5” over the center of the bore in my measuring.
