Some might already know, but Steyr has taken back their barrel making machinery from FN.
Barrel blanks come from Austria and HF mandrels are Austrian. Steyr is about ready to sell Steyr produced CHF barrels with... Wait for it... 1/2x28 threads 16" and 20" Pete (pjs-steyraug) will have these for sale. |

I wonder how long it's going to be till AUGs come from the factory with 'em. Good to see they are finally getting stuff out that the civilian marketplace has wanted.

Any ETA on the Steyr made barrels in general? I have that one FN 1:7 twist that has a burr of some kind in it that I need to send back. I'd like to get it swapped for a Steyr one

Mine was already turned down and threaded by adco.
But that’s awesome! |

I wish they'd offer a 14.5 that you could get pinned and welded.

I forgot to mention that these have tighter chambers and are supposed to be more accurate than the FN barrels.

Yeah got that email today. While its great news I really wished it was done sooner... especially before I acquired my three barrels ??

Great news though we could've done without the threading down the whole damn barrel since we're going MAGA here. That said, where's muh new trigger Steyr??????

why would you want it removed? that's there to give more surface area to allow the barrel to cool faster. it's also how the bayonet lug is mounted View Quote |

Neat. Interested in a 20 or 18" 1/7 (or 1/8). At an aggressive price

I'll probably pick one up if they do a run of 24" with a 1/7 twist rate. It'd really make it more palatable for a DMR-esque setup.

Will new, complete AUG carbines/rifles be sold with these barrels too?

Since Steyr can do barrels now, I'd love to see an 18" bead blasted stainless steel 1/8 with match chamber, no external threads, and 1/2x28.
Dear Santa... |

Damn it steyr. Make some 14.5 barrels with the appropriate gas plug. Im

Can they make 9mm barrels ?? View Quote I've been this close >< to cutting down an Austrian 9mm barrel to stick a 3 lug mount up against the gas block, I'd really appreciate a USA made 9mm barrel that wouldn't break my heart to chop. |

Are these new barrels supposed to be chrome lined?
I don’t see any chrome on the end of the chamber or muzzle crown on the barrel I received. Mick |

[#37]
I spoke with Steyr at SHOT. These new barrels are NOT chrome lined. They are finished with melonite.

I haven't posted in a long time, but thought I'd pass on some drool worthy info. Steyr is making barrels in .300 Blackout and has prototyped a 7.62x39 barrel as well since they had already worked out the gas system for the .300 BO. Unfortunately, they can't be imported due to our stupid laws, so if you want them, contact Steyr USA. Though I wouldn't hold my breath.
I started looking for info on the 1/2x28 pitch barrels in the hopes they'd already started selling rifles with the new barrels. Obviously disappointed if I was going to buy one tomorrow, but who knows, maybe later this year when I start looking for a new rifle. How much demand is there for MSAR parts? I'm going to part out my last gen Stg556. 16" and 20" barrels, optic rails, including one with the Corvus Defensio features, 20/20 sear, etc. |

Has anyone gotten their hands on a MAGA thread pitch barrel yet?

I've been happy with my melonited AR barrels also.
I didn't know these were melonited until someone mentioned it in here. I hadn't even opened the box as I was waiting on a dead air muzzle device from... Optics planet. Looks good to me and not a deal breaker. Shooting it will tell the whole story though. The main point on these barrels isn't the melonite, but that they're absolutely as Austrian a barrel as you can get. |
|
[#48]
I'm still waiting on AUG-specific suppressors that were rumored by someone here a while ago. Using the over-barrel threads and not having to fuck with the muzzle device would be sweet.

Steyr were surprised it wasn’t mentioned on their website. |
