Does anyone else do this to their optics platforms??

I used to travel with my gear to shoot matches and before I'd take off the optics I'd take a Sharpie marker and put two lines from the scope platform to the rail on the rifle upper. It made sure that I put the scope back onto the rifle in the correct position for the eye relief that I liked.

I use a short length of rail guard to mark the mounting location.

It's a good idea if you swap your gear out.  I know some folks who mark everything, screw heads, scope caps, etc.  It's an idea picked up from the high-power match world.  You'll see all kinds of markings and colors on the sights of those rifles.
