A guy at a local gun show gave me 250, .306 diameter bullets.  They weighed in at 150 gr each and have a steel, copper washed jacket.  What type of cartridge utilizes a .306 bullet?

I've read references that some 7.5 Swiss cartridges might have been .306, but all I've ever shot out of them is .308.

Measurements are correct.  Measured with a borrowed caliper at the show.  I measured them again with my caliper once I got home.
