The case on the right is Winchester. Is this normal for the flash hole? Or is this waste brass?

I can't speak to if it's safe to use or not, but I would scrap it. Better safe than sorry...

Looks to me like that one was drilled larger for shooting wax or plastic bullets with primers only.

Thanks guys. I had a feeling it was a no go.. I did notice that the Federal and Speer brass have slightly larger flash holes than CCI, RP, PPU, Top brass and all the others I have found but not crazy large like the few pieces of Winchester stuff I found.

I have loaded some of those but I always used non-mag primers and a really light load. Like 15% less than max. I also only use them in a short barrel pistol. No problems.......yet.

The ones that I inspected after firing looked as if the primer may have risen a little. Not deformed though. More surface are for lift or too much pressure.

The rounds were just for fuction practice so I didn't care about accuracy.

Stuff a piece of glue stick about 1/2 inch long in it, insert magnum primer and youve got a short range stray dog round.

That's their non-toxic round I believe. I've found tons of it and reload it no problem.

NT would have small primer pockets, less priming compound = less toxic by products

Plus it's usually headstamped "WIN NT" instead of "Winchester".

I have hundreds of pieces of it in .40 S&W.

I did a bunch of research when I first came across these. Everything pointed to the earlier version of the Win-Clean line using a lead free primer, before the switch to small primer pockets.

Federal does the same thing.

I have been reloading them with no problems.

Remember 45 ACP is a low pressure round.

Now you've got me nervous. I've got 1K of once fire brass stamped "WIN NT 5.56MM" with crimped primers.
Flash holes mic the same size as my LC 5.56. Is this brass ok for reloading to .223 pressure levels?
