So I decided to try out some new loads for above cartridge. I had some 170gr Hornady FP bullets laying around.....I saw that it listed TAC in there. I went with 26.8 grains. Anyone have anything good or bad to say about TAC in a .30-.30 round?

Not sure where you got your data source, Ramshot lists 27.5 grs of Tac as the starting load. 30.5 grs of Tac as max.

I would never fire rounds that were loaded below the start load.

Did you leave some info out of your post? Are you new to reloading?

Info straight from my Hornady book, I don't have it in front of me but starting load was at 25 grains so I went a little more for my starting loads as it did seem a little light but still in the middle. Its been a few years since I loaded the last .30-30 rounds. I'm still "new" to loading only been doing it four years and at my December count I was at a little over 14k loaded rounds in 13 calibers. No spuds, FTF or FTE or accidental primer pops

I'm about to hop on the quad and head to the pit to try them out, so now have you loaded some in TAC before, what were your thoughts. I will report back in a bit.

Thanks

Well just got back from testing out 30 rounds, with 6 different powders. The load with TAC had slightly less recoil than IMR 4831 in the 170 grain Hornady, but was more accurate and performed flawlessly.

In the Speer150 grain bullets I loaded WIN 760 and IMR 4320, out of those I had better accuracy with the 760.

Then the Speer 110 varmit bullets I tried  some Hogdon 4895 and Varget, with that bullet both were equally as accurate from my groups.

I like VihtaVoury N135 for my 30-30 loads. Very accurate. Particularly in my Contender using 125g Ballistic Tips.
I use 150g CoreLoks in my Winchester.

I will have to look into that on the next go-round. I don't load often, seems like 400 rounds lasts me a good while in the ole lever gun. Thanks bud

I wonder if my 7th edition is different, Now that I'm in front of it...it states 25.2 min and 32.4 max. I will probably step it up a little. We don't hunt with this rifle, just target shoot for fun so no real need for a faster hot load.Maybe somewhere around 29 will yield a good load too...we shall see
