My wife has a Taurus PT732 pistol. Her pistol is extremely reliable with
store bought ammo but the 32 ACP ammo is really freaking expensive. I
have started reloading to lower the cost per box of ammo. I'm loading
them with 71 grain round nose bullets to give her something to shoot and
play with. I'm having problems with primers. I started using CCI small
pistol primers. I loaded about 100 rounds and when I went to test the
loads they were getting light strikes very consistently. I would have to
shoot them twice to get them to fire. The first strike makes a small
dimple but not enough to ignite the primer. I am currently trying out
some other primers in the hopes that they are softer. I found some
federal small pistol primers that are brass instead the nickel plated
primers that most other brands use. I hope these are softer and work.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated. I have also thoroughly cleaned her pistol after every range
session, to include the striker assembly. The pistol shoots very nicely
with store bought, but I hope I can get the reloads to work as the
price of ammo would be a quarter of the price per box.

As an owner of a Colt 1903 in .32, I'm interested in the OP's experiences with this round,  (Still saving pennies to buy the dies.). There are tons of loads in the books, but hearing someone's first hand experience would be good.

CCI primer cups are harder than other makes of primers. Either try a new firing pin or switch to a softer primer cup. Winchester is middle of the toad in cup hardness . Federal the softest.

I seat the primers pretty hard when I am reloading to make sure they are seated fully.  The loads seem to be really accurate once actually firing.  If I can figure out this primer thing I should be good to go!!!  I've loaded some with federal primers and winchester primers. I'll go to the range next weekend, and tell you guys if my issue is fixed.
