Can anyone recommend one whose plastic top doesn't fall apart in a year?

Lee.

Mine's about ten years old and probably 10K+ primers through it.

That's what I'm looking to replace.
FWIW, I do 8-10k primers a year.

I wore out 2 Lee hand primers.  The worked great, but after several years of hard use they bit the dust.

I went to a RCBS hand primer and like it a LOT better.  I feel that it's a safer hand primer because it puts a steel shield between the primer being seated and the primers in the tray.  I have seen the aftermath of a Lee tray blow up once and it wasn't pretty.  The only reason the guy didn't get his eyes put out was because he was wearing prescription glasses.  The lenses were damaged enough that they had to be replaced.

+1

Sure it has plastic pieces that can wear, but if they do, call RCBS and you'll have them in a few days.

How's the "feel" on the RCBS?  IE, can you feel the seating of the primer?

Yep, just like the Lee.

What sold me on the RCBS was the added safety features.

Pretty noticeable when you're seating.

I group my precision rounds to tight and loose primer pockets.

I use mine every chance I get.  It is perfection.  There is no better priming tool on the market.

I recently made the jump to the Hornady unit.  I really like using standard shell holders.
