I posted this over on the 458 socom forum, but I'm curious of y'alls responses as well.

I recently ordered an RRA midlength A4 upper, a set of Redding dies, 100
SBR brass (couldn't find starline anywhere), and 100 Barnes TTSX.

First
off, I'm not new to reloading, I've been doing it for about 15 years.  I
load most of my pistol stuff on a dillon 650 with almost no brass
prep.  On the other end of the spectrum, I shoot CMP high power and am
just getting started w/ F-class.  I'm pretty particular about what I
do.  Here-in lies some of my questions.

For my match rounds, I
uniform the primer pocket and flash hole, sort brass by weight, bump the
shoulder back .003", chamfer the case mouths, weigh and sort the
bullets, seat w/ a redding competition die and toss/pull rounds w/
excessive runout, size w/ a redding bushing die to .002" neck tension,
weigh every powder charge, etc.  You know the drill.

How many of
you guys do some/all of this stuff for your socom rounds?  Or, do you
just load and let 'em fly?  I plan to load these on my rockchucker, not
the dillon.

Can I even use the primer pocket uniformer for a rifle case on a socom case?

From
what I've read, shoulder bump is pretty important on the 458.  How are
you measuring this?  For 223 and 308, I use a Sinclair bump guage.  I
can't seem to find something similar for the 458.  Any suggestions?

I
also noticed that the redding kit doesn't come w/ a "bell" die, can I
assume this isn't an issue?  I use one on my pistol rounds as I mostly
shoot case bullets on those.

There's a gunshow coming up in Indy
next week, so I'm hoping to go up there and pickup whatever I don't have
for when my upper comes in.  Any recommendations on a good primer?
Also, for powders, which are good/bad selections for a midlength gas
system for 300-325 grain bullets?

My use case is deer hunting
(I'm in IN) and generally blasting stuff if it matters.  Perhaps there's
a better bullet?  Or –– a cheaper one that'll get the job done?

Thanks all,

-Slice

Thanks for the reply grad.  Do you have a middy or CAR gas system?
