So I made up some loads for my 300 wsm using 168 amax and w760.  I was using my Hornady 7th edition which shows a max of 69 grains.  I made up loads from 65g-69g.  Then for curiosity I checked Hodgdon's site which shows a max charge of 65grains.  Just wondering why such a difference?  Does anyone have a Hornady eight edition they can check for me?  Going to range on Monday.

Thanks

The differences you note are from using different rifles, differnt COLs, different throat lenghts, etc.  These varibles can and do create huge differences from gun to gun.

I've had rifles that produced awful pressure signs from loads that should have been relatively mild & rifles that didnt produce any pressure issues even when way past max listed loads.

This is why you should always work your way up to max loads.
