I'm looking to load a bunch of .308 for my OBR. I'm looking for 150 grain bullets that are going to be cheap, but still shoot fairly accurate out to 500 yards. I've been looking at the Hornady 150gr FMJ, but it's not quite as cheap as I hoped. Does anyone else make a decent 150gr FMJ bullet cheaper than the Hornadys that still shoot decent? My expectations may be unrealistic, and if so, I welcome that news also, but I'm hoping someone has already figured this out and can help me out. The rest of the components I'll use are listed below:

Magtech brass

CCI primer

H4895 Powder

fmj bullets are not accurate. Some are better than others, most aren't worth a hoot.

Buy a 1000 bullet bulk box of Nosler 155 grain Custom Competition bullets fromm MidSouth Shooters Supply or Powder Valley. They are $190 per K plus shipping. They are very good bullets and that's a great price.

Earlier this week, I bought 3000 pulled tracer bullets from pat's reloading.

$149/3000 + about $70 for shipping and hazmat. Them big boxes of bullets are HEAVY!

I doubt they'll meet your accuracy standards though. I have plenty of SRA MK bullets if I want to do that kind of shooting.

My advice mirrors borderpatrol's except I was going to suggest Sierra SMK hpbt in the 150 something range in 500 bulk pack. Nothing about .308 is cheap.

Why are you stuck on 150's?
I have a bag of Privi 168's (166-170'ish),.. I'd give you 100 of, just to mess around with, and that just might be all you would be doing with those. They are not all that bad, but not Nosler CC's either. The Nosler's shoot better.

Not stuck on the 150's, but they seem to be the cheapest decent shooting bullets out there. I've got lots of 175 smks I could load up and blast, but I was hoping to save some cash by finding something cheaper. I'll probably try the Noslers out.

I certainly apppreciate your offer though!

The Privi 168's are not total Crap, and they are cheap, everyone ought to try some out to see for them selves, who knows, they just might do.

Well, I ordered 1k of the 155 Noslers to try out. Hopefully I can find a good load without too much effort. I hate load development.

I may still try the 168 Prvi. What's the price and source for them?

Nosler also sells 1000 bullet boxes of their 168 grain .30 caliber CC's.

They are priced the same as the 155's.

for 18 in OBR , with 145 gr privi , I got 10 round 2moa at 500yds prone bipod in 40 seconds The bad news is all the work to get there. The privi 145 vary wildly so I sort to .2gr I use LC and FC mixed brass neck turned etc sorted to 1gr Rem 9 1/2 primer 43 gr H4895 weighed +/- .6 gr 2.785 OAL (magazine max) I have tried crimped and no crimp with this load and found no difference 2710fps at 60 F 100yd - 1.25 moa - 200yd - 2.5 moa - 300yd - 2.25 moa - 400yds - 3.5 moa - 500yds At 32 F 100yd - 2.25moa - 200yd - 4moa - 300yd - 4.5moa - 400yd - 3.75moa - 500yd - 5.5moa - 600yd

I have purchased both 145 and 165 gr. FMJ from Winders with good results. Recent 2 five shot strings with the 145's measured (at 100 meters) at
3/8". Took alot of prep (weighing/trimming brass) etc. but I can't complain - more than satisfiec for the price (see their web-site for prices).
