I was thinking blue dot, with a 230 the Thompson has a really heavy bolt and stiff recoil springs. The 255 Gr colt bullet might also work, but im not sure it will feed reliably.
I have a Midway LoadMAP booklet that has load data for the 255gr LSWC bullet in a 45ACP case
It doesn't have Bluedot listed though (max pressure 21,000psi)
Bullseye- 3.1-4.2gr
Herco- 4.3-5.9gr
RedDot- 3.0-4.1gr
Unique- 4.2-5.4gr
Win 231- 3.5-4.6gr
I have loaded some rounds with the 250gr XTP using Unique, it fed fine.
6.4gr (20,000psi, 820fps w 5"barrel) worked fine in my Oly 45carbine
the load map give a range of 4.8-6.6gr of Unique for the 250gr XTP
For the Speer 250gr Lead SWC, it lists these loads:
Bullseye- 3.7-5.5gr
Herco- 5.2-7.8gr
RedDot- 3.8-5.4gr
Unique- 4.7-6.9gr
W231- 4.1-6.0gr
I was surprised that the slightly lighter bullet allowed much more powder.
