the Lyman handbook has data for a Marlin Camp Carbine 16" barrel.
What weight bullet are you looking for data? for the 230gr FMJ it lists Unique 5.5-6.8 gr (733-974fps) BlueDot 8.5-10.2 gr (787-1034fps) SR4756 6.0-7.0 gr (597-894fps) |

Blue Dot. The 16" barrel should take care of the normal Blue Dot Fireball as well.

I was thinking blue dot, with a 230 the Thompson has a really heavy bolt and stiff recoil springs. The 255 Gr colt bullet might also work, but im not sure it will feed reliably.

Although I really want to build up some loads with a slow-burning powder for my 45ACP carbines, I've only gone so far as working up loads with Power Pistol with 230gr XTP's. They're hot loads intended for 45 Super, though.
Power Pistol is generally one of the slower burning powders for pistol loads, so it's something that can be made to work well in either or. It's probably a compromise though, and a slower powder could probably be used for dedicated carbine-length loads. |

I have a Midway LoadMAP booklet that has load data for the 255gr LSWC bullet in a 45ACP case It doesn't have Bluedot listed though (max pressure 21,000psi) Bullseye- 3.1-4.2gr Herco- 4.3-5.9gr RedDot- 3.0-4.1gr Unique- 4.2-5.4gr Win 231- 3.5-4.6gr I have loaded some rounds with the 250gr XTP using Unique, it fed fine. 6.4gr (20,000psi, 820fps w 5"barrel) worked fine in my Oly 45carbine the load map give a range of 4.8-6.6gr of Unique for the 250gr XTP For the Speer 250gr Lead SWC, it lists these loads: Bullseye- 3.7-5.5gr Herco- 5.2-7.8gr RedDot- 3.8-5.4gr Unique- 4.7-6.9gr W231- 4.1-6.0gr I was surprised that the slightly lighter bullet allowed much more powder. |

I run VV N340 in my Reising, and Stemple, with 230 grain bullets.
VERY CLEAN, but it is also more expensive. My 16" semi Thompson also liked it. I used to load 260 gr. hollowpoints(Speer) for it. |

Ramshot used to list an Enforcer load for 230 grain hardball that would do 1050 with normal .45 ACP pressures out of a 5" barrel. Large fireball, though. You might look at that load.

You could do it the hard way or the easy way.
Everything that the military used for their .45ACP M1911 pistols also ran with their .45 ACP Thompsons, etc.....

Enforcer powder sounds interesting and I think I will give it a try, just have to find some locally.
296 / h-110 is way too slow and not recomended anywhere( I do nont intend on using / trying it). Is anyone aware of anyone who has tried it and what was the result? Just curious As far as the function of the gun goes, Im sure any millitary duplication load will work just fine, but a dedicated rifle loading should work better at least in theory. |

It almost never works out that way! In most cases, the load that gives the best velocity and function in the pistol will also give best velocity and function in a rifle. I now work for the most accurate load in each firearm, and oddly enough its usually the same. G |

Book max load with HS-6 and 800X both got me 1080fps in a 10" barrel with a 230gr bullet, along with a sore shoulder after a number of them fired.

I loaded and fired some 250gr lead RNFP bullets over 6.9gr Unique. This should hit about 920fps in a 5" barrel according the the book I have. It fed and fired fine out of my Cav-Oly carbine. It ballistically duplicates another load I made using 250gr XTPs @ 920fps, but that requires .45 Super levels of pressure and cases.
