I checked the Ramshot load data but just wanted to get some opinions on what you guys load this grain bullet in. I also did a search and couldn't find anything. It's a 62gr FMJ, CCI Primer, Tac powder. Ramshot says 22.0gr start load with 62gr HP in 1-12 twist. Would that be ok to use in a 62gr FMJ with a 1-9 twist?

I use Tac as well, with pulled M855 62gr bullets in a 1-9 twist. I am using wolf primers, as well as CCI SR mags with 23.5gr of Tac and they shoot really well, sometimes I get a varience of .1 or .2gr but not to much. I wouldn't go above 24.5 though. It's great powder, not as clean burning as they say it is, but still good. I only go with a lighter load to stretch the powder out, and since I'm only punchin holes in paper it's no big deal.

Do you see pressure signs at 24.5 grs?

Heck, use 25.5 grains of TAC with the Sierra 65 grain gameking (Sierra's recommended hunting load in their AR data) and I don't get any pressure signs.

I use 26 grains of TAC behind a 60 grn vmax.  I wouldnt be afraid to work up to that charge behind a 62 grn bullet as well.

This is what Sierra shows for THEIR 63gr SMP, Tac and the AR-15

Minimum is 23.0grs of Tac.

Max is 25.5grs of Tac.

You could PROBABLY stay within that range and be safe with 62gr FMJs.  62gr bullets may shoot great out of your barrel, but my 1-12 AR doesn't like anything much over 55grs as well as my 1-9 AR.  It won't shoot 69gr SMKs nearly as well as my 1-9, but will shoot 55gr FMJs and 52gr SMKs a tad bit better.

24.5 grs Tac is the max listed with the Ramshot online data.

Myself, I have worked up to 26.0 grs Tac with a 55 gr FMJBT. LC or Win cases.

Ramshot is not the only source of data.

What ever data you use, work your load up in your rifle, as YMMV.

My SS109 62 grain load using Widener's bullets comes in at 25.7 TAC. At 26gr TAC groups began to spread out. No pressure signs with either load.
That's in 1:7 20" barrel using Wolf SRM primers with WNT, LC, and WCC brass.
The brass makes no difference I can tell, all trimmed to 1.75, and COL at 2.260 with a Lee crimp. It groups 1.5" at 100 yds, and that's about all I can get out of it.
Similar results in 4 rifles. No chrono data.

The online Ramshot data shows the same loads for 1:7 or 1:9, but no 62 grain for those twists. That's the 4.3 data edition.
I called Western Powders lab for the SS109 FMJSCBT and the range they gave me was 23-26 grains TAC for a 1:7 twist using the 62 grain SS109 bullet.

Isn't 1/12" a little slow that that weight of bullet?

I asked a similar question to them in march, and got this reply,

TAC can be used for all bullet weights in the .223Rem/5.56mmx45.
We have recently re-tested the TAC from 36 to 60gr.

It also depends on which pressure level you would like to adhere to.
The lower <55000SAAMI spec of the higher MIL/International spec of <62000psi

Start load: 23.5 grains (2750 – 2850 Ft/p/sec)
Maximum load:  26.2 grains (3075 – 3175 Ft/p/sec). <62000 Psi

Bullet weight:   77 grain HP.
Start load: 22.1 grains (2525 – 2625 Ft/p/sec)
Maximum load:  24.5 grains (2750 – 2850 Ft/p/sec). <62000 Psi
