So I read the "Best Choices for Self Defense Ammo" sticky in the ammo section. It lists the 155 grain TAP (uses AMAX bullet) as a good all-around performer in .308 due to ithe large temporary wound cavity it induces.

I'd like something cannelured for the M1A. How would the 150-gran SST perform as a defensive load? Seems like it delivers good results in hunting reviews.
