Some books have W748 spec'ed for use with a mag primer....then, some don't.
I don't use a mag primer (I use std Fed Sm Rifle Primers) with my W748 loads in .223/5.56mm. That's ME. Aloha, Mark |

i have used W748 and winchester primers on 3-4 k reloads with 55 and 62 Gr projectiles
no problems or complaints |

After a lot of experimenting, I have found the best accuracy using wsr primers with W748.

I've never used a magnum primer with W748, regardless of caliber.

Standard primer with H-335 also.

I use RP 7 1/2 primers with all loads and all powders, Win 748, WC844, Rel 15, and H335. Remington says it's a match primer and I've seen it compared to a magnum primer but all I know is they go bang every time and a fast accurate piece of lead copper jacketed projectile goes downrange from 2700-3200fps.

Since late 1987/early 1988, nothing but plan Winchester Small Rifle & CCI-400.
Currently using what I can get on the cheap the easiest at local FFL. |
