Winner is bigdb1!!!  with guess of 578 pieces. Actual count was 577. Oh so close!

Bigdb1, send me your name, mailing address, I'll ship these out Tuesday around noon.

Congratulations to all the guesses!  It was great seeing the photo's of all you all's reloads and/or equipment.

Another year's gone by another 14.46 posts per day, most of them in Reloading forum.

To celebrate I'm having a contest.

Here's the contest, simple enough:

Guess how many pieces of .223 brass are in this box:

The brass is once fired Guatamalen brass. It has the smaller flashholes.  To reload it you'll have to deal with the small flash hole.  Topics have been posted on this before in the past.  Brass has been tumbled.

Rules:

*** Read carefully ***

1) You get one guess
2) Contest ends Sunday July 13 6pm EST time sharp unless someone guesses the exact
number of cases before then
3) Post your guess along with a picture of your .223 reloads, any amount will do
4) Only unedited posts will count.  If you post a number and have second thoughts and revise the number, you're SOL.  If  you post a guess without a picture of your reloads you're SOL
5) You can post additional posts after your first post for commentary and speculation but  it won't count for contest purposes.  Don't post additional posts with guesses in them.  Make that your first post to this thread.
6) Contest is open only to those who reload .223

Prove it:

Entry must contain a photo of some .223 reloads you've made before

-and-

you must have made at least 3 posts to Armory->Reloading since the move from General Discussion -> Reloading and before this post

7) I will ship the brass to USA addresses only via USPS Flat Rate Box
8) If you're not in the USA, I'll buy you a $24 ARFCOM team membership or extend your ARFCOM membership for one year in lieu of sending you the brass.

Good luck and good guessing!

ETA: if no one guesses the correct amount, the person with the closest guess on 6pm EST Sunday July 13 wins.  In case of a tie, e.g. one person guesses 5 pieces over and another person guesses 5 pieces under, the person with the earliest post wins

Do not post a guess without a pic of your 223 reloads

If you don't have hosting capability, email me the pic, I'll host it for you.

If whoever wins and doesn't want the brass, I'll ship to the reloader of your choice.

Closeup of the brass, doesn't help or hurt anyone that's already made a guess, just showing it off.

So who is the actual owner of that pic?

ETA: Since Strycnine's name is on the file I am gonna guess that number40 fan is using a pic that doesnt belong to him.

ETA2: And thanks to this jackassery I also eliminated myself from the competition.

It's probably Strycnine's photo per the photobucket URL.

Go ahead and post a guess and photo and enter the competition.  I'll make an exception in your case since your intention didn't involve any deception.

You posted a lot recently, I did a search  I'll accept this as a valid entry.  My intention was to let someone who reloads .223 to win the brass, not someone who doesn't and would take the brass and sell it for $ in EE or something.

So far I've made 3 minor exceptions to the initial set of rules, one for 103M95G. the others to Friiguy and perimedik

103M95G didn't change his initial guess as a result.

Friiguy's posts were out of the preferred order (post first, comment later).  I'll let  his unedited post stand.

perimedik doesn't have any actual reloads yet but has been gathering the equipment, but has made numerous posts to Armory->Reloading regarding reloading .223 in the past 3 months.  So I'll let his uneditted post with his guess stand.

If anyone thinks this is unfair, let me know.  I don't want start making special exceptions for everyone but I'm flexible as long as the spirit of my contest stays intact.

I completely lack any photographs of my .223 loading efforts.  I haven't made up many rounds in that caliber yet, and I never took any pictures of what I did.  And since it's all downrange now and my brass is all in some bin in the garage, I'm SOL anyway.

But THANKS, AR, for having this contest.  I'm looking forward to seeing who wins and what the actual number is.  And more pictures!  That's getting me motivated to dig out that brass and get going!

Question unrelated to this contest, for those who store ammunition loose in, for example 50BMG cans, do you notice any deformation of cartridges in the bottom of said can?  Denting, excessive runout?
