Curious... have rifles with 10 round mags arrived yet?
Yes, but only a couple hundred so far. But they're rolling now so the 10 rnd rifle qty will continue to go up. My dealer has 3 inbound. I will finally get mey hands on one. |

I received my GSG-StG44 last week, and can add a couple of observations... - Zamak is an aluminum and Zinc alloy; it's been in use in firearms since at least WW II (Brits made Enfield buttplates out of it) - ATI/GSG has added a third SHCS to the buttstock socket, a bigger one, in the center - Pistol grips aren't solid wood; they're some kind of sawdust + resin composite - Buttstock is stained...I like the pics of the unstained 'samples' better... http://forum.lugerforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=30475&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1354897060 http://forum.lugerforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=30360&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1354388280 I received the 10 rd magazine with mine. Planning on getting a second magazine and cutting it down...Whenever they become available... Hence the name, Zinc.... Aluminum...MAgnesium...(Kupfer)Copper = Zamak |

Is there any other manufacturer going to be making any new mags for the STG44???? Pro-Mag???
We seriously need to increase the availability of mags here. |
|
Postino;
It doesn't look like the new butt stock has the center hole for the SHCS. Is that the new configuration or the old? Mine only has two screws and I've had trouble with them backing out. |
|
Just got mine last week. I opened the super cool wooden box and discovered that a small piece of wood with two screws in it had come loose. My stock was laying on top of the sharp screw and it had gouged the wood badly. Very unhappy about that. I will contact ati and hopefully they can replace the part.
Otherwise everything looks nice. This is a big rifle, and heavy! |
|
Mine died the first time shooting it and went back for repair.

The new one has only the two 4mm SHCS's...Not the 6mm center SHCS...I'm still thinking about how I want to add the 6mm center SHCS to the new stock...Being Metric complicates things... The 'anchor' (or insert, whatever it's called) that the center SHCS screws into does not seem to want to come out easily... I could be a barbarian and put a Yankee wood screw in it...But I'm anal about things like this... |

I plan on epoxying in a threaded insert of some sort and making the retaining plate out of some .125 scrap. I know my stock needs some more support.

Has anyone addressed the long trigger pull and brought up the uptake?

Can someone post a pic of the inside of the lower receiver (trigger area)? Specifically the area to the left of the hammer. I think I have a little spring in that area that is out of place.
|
|
Thanks exactly, what I was looking for.. Where did you get the schematic from?
I really wish their is a way to take up the slack in #18. This thing has a way too long of a trigger pull and the reset truely sucks. |

Just picked one up at my LGS for $599. No wood crate though. I think they just come in a cardboard box now. No biggie. There was a slight bit of up and down wobble where the stock assy meets the receiver. I doubt it would affect accuracy though. Easy fix was to just put a strip of electrical tape on the inside top and bottom of the stock assy and slip it back on. Plenty snug fit now.
|
|
Just curious as to what the official story is on the wood crate. I see several people indicating it's no longer included and people are starting to get new ones in standard cardboard boxes.

I talked to Jonathan Jordan at ATI about the wooden crate, he thought the guns were still being shipped with the crate. He did say they had extra crates for sale in case a customer had one damaged. He did not quote a price but if you wanted the crate, i would give Jonathan a call.

I handled one of these last week at my LGS. Cool little gun, I wish they would make them in 7.62x39!
I wonder if the German Army is now going to sue them over copyright issues |

I wonder if the German Army is now going to sue them over copyright issues I was thinking the same thing! Got to handle one today, and it was a lot heavier than I was expecting. I even told the guy at the counter "How cool would this thing be in 7.62x39?" We both were like....Duuuuude... Would have bought it on the spot, except for the whole no 22lr to be found in my area, anywhere. My GSG5SD hasn't been fired in months. |

I just finally got to handle one today at my LGS and thought it was sweet. I wound up buying it so I should be picking it up soon. Ok anyone making all metal mags for these?

Metal mags would be great, but they'd charge a hundred bucks for them. It shoots just fine with the plastic mag. |

Did my reseach found one at a dealer. Handle it. Put it down thought about over the weekend. Went and bought it. Would have bought two if I could have swung it.
I still wasnt 100% until the dealer told me he had them in the wood crates. SOLD. SWEET. |

I talked to Jonathan Jordan at ATI about the wooden crate, he thought the guns were still being shipped with the crate. Interesting. Mine came in the GSG cardboard box, inside another cardboard box, from Amchar Wholesale in Rochester NY. No wooden crate. I paid $605 for it. I don't mind the lack of the Amish crate, but I hear others are paying the same amount and getting the crate as well. It'd be nice if the cardboard box cost less than the crate. |

Shot mine today.
AWESOME... Shot about 100 rds. I had one FT feed. Which was the first rd. loaded into the mag. so the last rd. fired. While shooting I held the mag, even used the mag as a rest while shooting. No Malfs. Did about a 2 inch group at 50yds, rapid firing. Now I need a sling and a few more mags. |
|
I grabbed one of these a couple weeks ago. LGS had a couple at $650 - I offered $600 cash out the door and they declined. Ended up buying one off GB for $515 plus $35 shipping. Got the gun with crate and a 25 round mag, paid $12 for the transfer so I was still money ahead of the local shop but at least I tried to support them. They did have 2x 25 round mags at $47 each so I did buy those.
First outing was pretty good. Blasted some Winchester M-22 ammo. The first two to three magazines through it had about 3 FTFs per mag. Seemed to be a mag issue as the rounds weren't even moving up to be stripped out by the bolt. By the fourth mag the feeding seemed to smooth out and I was getting no FTFs at that point. Accuracy is on par with what others are reporting. Shooting clay pigeons at 100 yards took a couple rounds but it was doable... I love my 10 pound .22LR! |

If anyone is interested, HK Specialist has 25 rounders for the stg44 in stock:

Picked up one last week, and got a chance to take it to the range this past weekend. It has a little problem. It will not extract. Shoots great as long as I don't have to eject a live round. Looks like the barrel is not cut enough for the extractor claw to catch the rim.

I just picked up mine today and my chamber area looks the same as yours. I did put a plastic dummy round in first and that extracted okay but when I tried a live round mine would not extract it either. Tagging to hear what ATI tells you. I haven't made it to the range yet but will do so tomorrow to see if it changes after being shot some but I am thinking it won't. |
|
It'd be nice if the cardboard box cost less than the crate.
Actually it does when we sell it to distributors and regulated to what they sell it to dealers at. Unfortunately, MSRP is just that 'suggested.' We cannot control what dealers retail it at though. Sorry. We do have the crates available for sale through our customer service center if you really want one. $40.00 plus S&H so...there is that. It will not extract. Shoots great as long as I don't have to eject a live round. Looks like the barrel is not cut enough for the extractor claw to catch the rim.
I copied this and emailed it to the gunsmiths. Here's what I got back: His firearm looks somewhat dirty so this may have to do with a dirty chamber. But I would say to try and clean the chamber and if that doesn’t work we can ream the chamber in case it is not cut properly or replace the extractor if that is in fact the issue. Start with a good chamber and barrel cleaning though. |
|
I also tried mine with a live round with the gun fresh from the factory box and it would not extract it. However, when I shot it at the range I had no failures to fire and while it does not feed CCI mini-mag worth a darn it eats Remington Thunderbolt like a fat girl on her wedding day.

I havent had any problem with mine. Sorry you guys are. Mine is pretty darn accurate too.

In spite of the few little glitches, my STG-44 shoots like a dream. I love it. This is from this morning. 35 rounds at 25 yards. That is a 3 in. circle. The flyers at the top are from when I was adjusting my sites before this string. All 35 were within 1-1/2 in. It will shoot better than my old eyes can see to hold it.

If they made it in a good rifle caliber, like 5.56, i would be all over it. That being said, the .22LR version looks awesome.
|
|
Just picked one up at my LGS for $539.00 still wrapped in plastic bags in the crate....
Any suggestions for a sling? |
|
Repro Sling
Yea, it's a repro but so is the rifle. Decent quality though. Good guy to do business with. |
