There is already an imported ESEE folder available... I can only assume these were done properly, or will be.

What I said saw these were the Rowen prototypes, if that's the case, Rowen is the same company that makes all of their blades.

I got to play with one at Blade 2014 it was very nice and lightweight, I cant wait to see a production blade.

Can anyone elaborate as to the problems with the imported ESEE Zancudo? I knew they were imported, and at $30 I wouldn't expect a fantastic knife, but I was hoping coming from ESEE they wouldn't be junk. I was considering picking one up to keep as a spare folder in my hiking pack, but if they are poor quality then I'll pass.

Other people seem to like them but my complaints are:

Extremely stiff and difficult to open and close:
If I tighten the pivot screw enough to make it reasonably easy to open then there is way too much play in the blade once it's open.
The lock mechanism is very small and stiff so unlocking it gets quite painful after several times
Ugly "stonewash" finish that looks like the lid of a garbage can

If I remember tonight I'll dig it out of storage and see what other problems I had with it
