rhatland, I agree with what has already been posted. There are a large number of companies out there who make superb knives, as well as those made by custom makers. I have a strong preference for the Chris Reeve knives (when not carrying my own
) and often carry a Sebenza folder, which is strong, fast and light, albeit expensive. When out in the bush I prefer a Chris Reeve Shadow IV. But, as also noted, I have never found the perfect knife. I sometimes carry an Ed Caffrey or A.T. Barr folder. I will often use a Ka-Bar, which given to me by my former Marine brother is one of my favorites, both for quality and sentimental reasons. A lot depends on my expectations about where I will be and what I will be doing over a given period of time. Look around and find something that you like. See how it feels in your hand, on your belt or in your pocket. If you find something you like and have other questions, we can offer a lot of insight.
