Passed through the Smoky Mountains last week and stopped at the Smoky Mountain Knife Works. Great selection of knives, cold steel, benchmade, spyderco, Ka-Bar, Camillus, SOG etc. I kind of went on overload trying to decide what to get, and ended up with the Gerber (though I orginally wanted something "cooler" than a Gerber). www.gerberblades.com/gerberlegendaryblades.html?05785

nice knife but that Crawford Kasper I got my girlfriend as a very slick opening pivot!

Damn, talk about taking the fun out of something! Well "dagger" isn't specifically defined in the NY statutes as far as I know (although there is a "dangerous knife" or something prohibition which sounds like it could be just about anything anyway). I usually think of a dagger as having two sharp edges, the knife I have only has one sharp side, though.

I carry the black or "Covert" model every single day. It makes Juggy j-e-a-l-o-u-s.

Also, I bought at the same place. So what am I to think? You're in the neighborhood and don't say "hi?" I'm hurt.

We actually got in one of our very few arguments over this. She was in a hurry to get to Asheville (due to delays that were all my fault) and didn't want to stop "because you will be there with your gun buddies all afternoon" (true but it would have been more fun than Asheville was) We stopped at the knife store on the way back and I figured you were closed on the holiday. I'm sorry

We are planning on going biking and whitewater rafting out that way sometime this summer so I will make sure I am driving when we are going through again.

No kidding, we spotted all the really strange "Holistic Healing Centers" type stuff, WTF? looked like Ithaca NY, not The South. Even little Ms. Aimless, who is not a "right of Attilla the Hun" type like me, thought it was weird.

I actually meant to get a good everyday folder for hunting because my 15 year old gerber has a little shorter blade that I would like for skinning, but it's tough to buy the knife you need instead of the knife you want.
