If you're just plinking it doesn't really matter, you should ask what ammo to stay away from.

On that note, stay away from anything with a yellow tip and a headstamp of 50 over 60 or if its labled as Dominican Republic. Every piece of this ammo is garbage, you can't break it down and reuse any of the parts, so don't buy it. Next would be anything from TNW that's sold as "blaster" ammo, its sold as such as it will blast the top cover off an M2! Trust me, I was standing there when it happend and loaned the shooter my knife to pick brass out of his leg!

IK 88 ammo was tested by Keith Pagel (FCSA ammo guru) and found to be mildly corrosive. I doubt you'll find any on the market unless someone horded it but being foreign made is usually a good indication that it could be corrosive. It was good ammo and getting it for a dollar or less was great, just had to clean your rifle accordingly.

Your best bet is if it doesn't look right pass on it, if you shake it and don't hear powder moving or it sounds like rocks, you might want to pass. Heck a few years back HSM had a bad batch, Talon did also when they were in business and I think some of it is still floating around, buyer beware.

Yeah, its good plinking ammo but a little on the high side. I would try to see if they would take $3 or less if you buy enough of it.

One other thing, remember that "plinking" ammo is NOT "Match" ammo! Surplus is only good for 2-3 MOA and not sub MOA, if you get better results from a certain lot then you got a bonus! Don't go out and buy 10K rounds of surplus, get shitty results and then complain about it because someone else got better accuracy then you out of your rifle.

"Plinking" ammo is just that, "plinking" ammo for blasting rocks and anything else you can think of. If you want match ammo, buy the components, do the work and you'll see the results.
